Testimonies of Healing

For more than twenty-four years...

From the October 1933 issue of The Christian Science Journal

For more than twenty-four years I have been enjoying the benefits of Christian Science and have had so many healings that it would be impossible to tell of them all, but a few are so outstanding that I want to take advantage of this channel to tell them to the whole world in the hope that someone else will be helped as I have been.

As a child and a young girl I was considered very delicate and peculiarly susceptible to disease. My parents employed the services of the best physicians available and also sent me into many different parts of this country and other countries hoping that a change of climate would prove beneficial; but it was not until Christian Science was presented to me by a member of my family that we entertained any hope of prolonging my life, as physicians in attendance had given me only a short time to live. While the fear of death was overcome immediately, the physical symptoms did not yield and another year was spent in reliance upon medicine. During that year, however, I spent much time alone with our textbook. The sentence from page 231, "What God cannot do, man need not attempt," made so deep an impression upon me that at the end of the year I was ready to turn wholly to God and His law, and I have been healed of many things.

Headaches which had recurred every few days and had finally become continuous did not yield at once. It took much prayerful study and the aid of practitioners to help me see the unreality of pain and lose all fear of a recurrence; but this healing is now complete, and words fail to express the rejoicing in my heart. Another condition, necessitating constant dressings and called incurable by physicians, was healed when, realizing that I could rely on God, I removed the dressings. A very large and painful boil was healed as I read and studied lines 15-20 on page 242 of Science and Health. A broken ankle was healed in three weeks.
