It is over twenty-two years since I first turned to Christian Science for aid and was instantaneously healed of a severe form of stomach trouble which had been with me for many years, and had on two occasions forced me out of business positions.
Some eighteen months before turning to Christian Science I had been compelled to resign from a position on the staff of a bank in western Canada, and I learned later that many of the townspeople considered that I was dying. In the years which have intervened since that first healing took place, I have had many proofs of the protecting care and healing power of Christian Science; it has helped me in my relations with others, in business, and in my home life, and in every way.
During a so-called influenza epidemic, I reached the office one morning with all the symptoms of a severe attack of the malady. Some of my fellow workers, who knew that I was a student of Christian Science, voiced the thought that I was a victim of the prevalent ailment, but this was denied strenuously both audibly and silently. At the noon hour I went to the Christian Science Reading Room and there, in the quiet restfulness of that oasis in the desert of material turmoil and fear, I studied the Lesson-Sermon for the week. In about an hour I returned to the office completely free from all signs of influenza.
