When my granddaughter was born the attendants were shocked to see that there was a sack of fluid near the lower part of the backbone; and I was told that one joint of the bone was telescoped up into another, that in all probability she would not live; but that if she did she would be paralyzed from the waist and would never walk. We had been students of Christian Science for several years and a practitioner was already working for the mother, so work was begun at once for the baby. The mother kept Science and Health near at hand and read during most of her waking hours, so that very little fear or discouragement was allowed to enter her thought. The baby developed as a normal child should, and always seemed bright and happy. Although it was several weeks before the spinal condition showed any change, when it finally did so in a few days all of the fluid was absorbed and the bone was normal. When the child was six months old she was taken back to the hospital where she had been born and the doctor there, after a thorough examination, pronounced the healing complete.
The child was walking before she was a year old and has always been very light and graceful in her movements. When she was about three years old she fell a distance of approximately eight feet and injured one of her knees so that she could not stand on that foot. This was also quickly healed by Christian Science treatment, and the evidence of dislocation overcome without material means. In fact, she has had no other than Christian Science help during her nine years, and her attendance at school has been complete during the last two years.
We are very grateful that we are becoming acquainted with divine Love, the great Physician who does indeed heal every kind of disease, and also for His servants, the practitioners. I am truly grateful to Mrs. Eddy for the blessing her discovery has been to me and mine.
