Testimonies of Healing

From the March 1933 issue of The Christian Science Journal

In June, 1931, I completed four years at the University of Illinois, four years that were a series of beautiful demonstrations. The greatest obstacle to be overcome was that of lack of supply. The passage on page 494 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy which says, "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need," was an ever present source of help. No matter how low the funds were, or how many needs there seemed to be, there was never any fear that whatever was necessary would not be forthcoming at the proper time. And not once could any fear have been justified. When outside work was obtained to meet financial needs, a fear of lack of physical strength was overcome. Even after several months with only a few hours' sleep each night, there were no ill effects either in health or in school work.

When various epidemics broke out and many students were quarantined, God's protection was always proved. I did not miss a day of school because of illness in all four years.

Sometimes the work seemed too difficult and I doubted my ability to master it. At such times the passage which says, "Spirit, God, gathers unformed thoughts into their proper channels," as found on page 506 of Science and Health, was of great help. I also found it an extremely useful expression of truth in time of examinations.
