Testimonies of Healing

[Original testimony in French]

It is with the purpose of giving...

From the June 1933 issue of The Christian Science Journal

It is with the purpose of giving some hope and encouragement to young people who are traversing the dark valley of sickness, as I traversed it myself, that I give this testimony of healing and gratitude.

I was in a hopeless state when Christian Science was presented to me in November, 1929. Two months before, after a chill followed by a severe attack of fever, the doctors diagnosed my case as quick consumption, which they declared they were powerless against, and which according to their prediction made fearful progress. From Paris, where I was then living, my father sent me to the country, and as a last hope took me to a lung specialist, the head of the sanatorium there. After a very extensive X-ray examination, the doctor declared that my right lung did not function any more, being consumed by the disease, and that the left lung, being tainted in the same way, could sustain me only three or four days at the most; this being the case, it was quite useless for me to enter his establishment.

It was at this critical moment that my father, who had gained some knowledge of Christian Science through a friend of the family, a practitioner living in Geneva, asked this friend for help and counsel. She answered that I could certainly recover if I had faith in this doctrine, which was new to me, and she promised to give me absent treatments.
