I was taken seriously ill with a suppuration of the axillary gland, which was extremely painful. Night after night I did not close my eyes at all, and I was unable to do any work. When I went to a doctor, for at that time I had no particular knowledge of Christian Science, he undertook an operation at once. However, after a few days another operation seemed necessary. To my frightened question the physician replied that without doubt seven further operations would be needed.
Now for the first time, in my extreme need and fear, I turned to God. I had often heard of Christian Science through a friend, and now she advised me to turn to a Christian Science practitioner who had often been the agent of divine help for her. So I appealed to this practitioner. The result was remarkable, for after a very few days I was completely healed, although according to human opinion this trouble would have needed several weeks for recovery.
