It is many years since I took up the study of Christian Science and it has been a wonderful help to me. One of my first healings was of weak eyes. I wore glasses, but shortly after I began to understand a little of what Christian Science teaches, and learned that sight is spiritual, not dependent on glasses, I took them off. It seemed hard to read without them at first, but I persisted and was soon reading without any trouble at all. This healing has been permanent. I have had many other healings, such as those of seasickness, constipation, stomach trouble, colds, and burns, some instantaneous, others with the help of practitioners. Since coming into Christian Science I never think of taking medicine. Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, says in Science and Health (p. 167), "Only through radical reliance on Truth can scientific healing power be realized."
I am most grateful for all that Christian Science has done for me; also for the privilege of being a member of The Mother Church, and for having been permitted to stay for a few weeks at the Christian Science Sanatorium, Boston, Massachusetts, with its restful atmosphere of love. I live on an island where there are no Christian Science services, no practitioners, and only a few Christian Scientists, all living far apart; so I am indeed grateful for all the Christian Science literature, and for all of our Leader's books, which are life to one who reads with an open mind.— Koloa, Kauai, Hawaii.
