TEACHING IN THE SUNDAY SCHOOL

From the March 1934 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Is there any greater opportunity in the Christian Science movement for loving, unselfish, Christian service to God and to the Cause than teaching the children in the Christian Science Sunday School? Is there any greater joy than to see the blessed fruition of this work?

When the disciples of Jesus asked him, "Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?" he "called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them, and said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven."

Those teaching in a Christian Science Sunday School soon observe how teachable the average child is because of its willingness and eagerness to listen and learn. Things concerning God, when rightly taught according to Christian Science, are, as a rule, readily accepted even by the little ones. Could there be any greater privilege than to teach little children and young people correctly about God and their spiritual selfhood as God's offspring?
