It is my prayer that this message of gratitude go to the farthest corner of the globe, to inspire the downhearted to do what I did to get my healing of an illness said by two doctors to be incurable.
In June, 1931, I was taken with very serious heart trouble. The doctor who attended me forbade me to do any work, and told my friends that there was very little hope. After two months of treatment I was no better, so I consulted another doctor, who told me that I could never get well.
During this time a neighbor had lent me a few copies of Le Heraut de la Science Chretienne. Becoming interested in the testimonies of healing found in these periodicals, I wanted to get acquainted with a practitioner. The kind neighbor kept encouraging me, for she had been instantaneously healed of rheumatism a few years before, through the help of a Christian Science practitioner. One Sunday morning she went with me to a Christian Science service in Nice. To be able to join those faithful to the teaching and practice of Christ Jesus, I had to be helped along by two friends, but during the service I felt better, and when we came out I was able to walk without any help, like everybody else. Although I felt no more pain, yet I was not healed right away, and had to have the kind help of a practitioner, who encouraged me to read the French translation of Science and Health. During my first month's study, filled with enthusiasm and confidence, I completely gave up all material remedies. At the end of that time I went back to my doctor, who, after examining me, declared with astonishment that I was healed.
