After years of longing and searching for a religion which would really appeal to me, and at the same time be entirely satisfying and practical in daily living, I finally found in Christian Science all that for which I had been wishing and hoping. Soon after this my husband and our five children also became interested in it, and since then we have been enjoying its many wonderful blessings.
Christian Science was first presented to me through a dear friend, whom it had healed. However, when she told me of her experience, it did not appeal to me particularly, for I felt it was too illusory, not understandable, and really too good to be true. Nevertheless, I was willing to accept the literature she gave me, and after reading only a few of the articles in the Christian Science Sentinel, I was so inspired that I became thoroughly convinced that I wanted this religion. While reading Science and Health I felt like devouring its contents all at once, with the result that I was healed of several ailments simply by reading the book.
At the time I took up the study of this Science—more than thirty years ago—I was in a most deplorable condition, according to the family doctor's verdict, and was taking six different kinds of medicine. He claimed that every organ of my body was diseased and that there was little hope for my recovery. I was suffering both physically and mentally, the latter condition having been brought about, several years previously, by the death of our little daughter. But thanks to Christian Science, I was lifted out of this terrible state of thought.
