LIBERATION

From the November 1935 issue of The Christian Science Journal

God spoke to me today,
Today when sense was still;
He said, Deny thyself
And humbly do My will.
I knew not what to do,
But prayed for Love to guide;
And in that humbleness,
I cast away false pride.
Love's eager guidance led
To one bowed down with pain;
I whispered, God is Life,
And she was well again.
And others failed from fear,
Yet tried to look above;
The fear was silenced when
They learned that God is Love.
And one whom sin had bound—
Deluded in his youth—
Rejoiced that he was freed
From error by the truth.
Unloving words were hushed;
And they were made to cease.
I labored for mankind
And felt a sense of peace.
My foolish fears had fled;
Gone selfishness and ease;
Came courage as my God
I sought to prove and please.
I thank Thee, Lord, that Thou
Hast shown the way to me;
That I may free myself
By meekly serving Thee.
