"AMID THE JARRING TESTIMONY"

From the November 1935 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Despite the chaotic state in which the world would seem to have engulfed itself, thousands of men and women all over the globe are living examples of the fact that one may be in the world but not of it. They have learned where to turn for help; they are realizing that there is no problem incapable of solution when the correct rule has been found and applied. They are proving that truth of which the Psalmist sang, "A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee."

Orally and silently, by word, thought, and deed, these enlightened individuals are constantly thanking God for the wonderful truth which was revealed to Mary Baker Eddy, and which she named Christian Science, for it is through the study and application of this Science that humanity is learning to rise above the arguments and dissensions of mortal sense.

There is nothing mystical, nothing illogical, about Christian Science. It is not a new idea, a human hypothesis, subject to the mutability of human thought. Mrs. Eddy did not give to the world an unproved theory. The truth revealed in Christian Science always has been; it never began, and it will never end. It is the same truth that Jesus preached and lived, the same truth that made it possible for Moses successfully to lead the children of Israel through the wilderness.
