THE WORD SHALL STAND FOREVER

From the November 1935 issue of The Christian Science Journal

A prophet of the former days
Received command to cry.
What shall I cry? his question ran:
All flesh is grass, and only can
Appear, to fade and die.

The grass shall wither, matter fade;
This truth shall be declared,
Until one God to all is known
Supreme on an immortal throne
In universe Love-cared.

O childlike heart, a thought profound
Is here to thee revealed;
The word which ancient prophet saw
Is God's unerring perfect law,
Which hath forever healed.

Blest law, which out from willing hearts
Casts fear and pain away,
The grass shall fade, but God endure,
And man express His purpose sure
Through Being's perfect day.
