"HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS" MAN'S ETERNAL SUPPLY

From the December 1935 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Every man, woman, and child, whether rich or poor, prosperous or unsuccessful, provider or recipient, must eventually learn what is his real need, what is his true source of supply, and how to receive from its bountiful store. That Jesus of Nazareth understood God to be the source of supply was seen in his reference to the multitude who hungered, when he said to his disciples, "They need not depart; give ye them to eat." That an abundance was possible of present realization was proved when the Master supplied their needs without their having to depart to near-by villages to buy food, as it was recommended by his disciples that they should do. His declaration and demonstration of nineteen centuries ago have been repeated in the lives of multitudes who have been proving God's blessings in the name of Christian Science for the past sixty years.

But someone may ask: What is the secret, if any, of such demonstrations of power? I believe in God. How can I prove that He is the source of my supply? The answer was given by the great demonstrator of all good, "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." Note carefully the requirement in the Master's answer to this important question of supply, which should concern the seeker of "all these things." Jesus said to his disciples: "Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on. ... For all these things do the nations of the world seek after."

Therefore, those who are groping in the darkness of despair, worry, or hopelessness only lack the light of spiritual understanding which "his righteousness" brings. Mary Baker Eddy discovered the never-ceasing flow of God's bestowals upon His children. And she named her discovery Christian Science, which teaches men how to claim and enjoy these limitless blessings today and every day by awaking from the dream of materiality. Throughout her writings, all of which are sacred, Mrs. Eddy points to righteousness as the only way to become conscious of God's permanent care.
