Testimonies of Healing

[Original testimony in German]

From a grateful heart I should like...

From the August 1936 issue of The Christian Science Journal

From a grateful heart I should like to relate the wonderful healing of my son. In the large plant in which he works as a machinist he met with a very serious accident. He came into contact with a defective high-tension wire and was thrown from a height of about thirty feet to a cement floor.

When I was called to the hospital, about three hours after the accident, I found my boy in a coma and completely disfigured by swellings, by wounds covered with adhesive tape and others that had been sewn, and by contusions. According to human opinion there was little hope of saving him; otherwise the doctors would not have had me called to him that evening. In the first examination they found concussion of the brain, a broken ankle, and a dislocated shoulder and knee. What the X ray would show, I was to learn the next day.

I at once asked a Christian Science practitioner for help and support, which were lovingly given. The next morning the head nurse on receiving me said that my boy had had a few clear moments, and that was a very good sign. Then the doctor told me that, probably owing to the great pain, the pictures were very indistinct, but they had found several fractures in the hard palate and in the jaw; also that I should have to be very patient and remember it was a matter not of weeks, but of months.
