I feel impelled to testify to the first healing I experienced in Christian Science, in the hope that this may prove helpful to others.
About six years ago, and for a period of about two years prior to that, I had been a victim of the aspirin and whisky habits. So much was I addicted to the use of these products, that it was impossible for me to do anything in my profession, or otherwise, unless their seeming influence was at work. I had been in the habit of taking whisky in moderation, but the joint use of whisky and aspirin, which had such dire results, commenced in an attempt to alleviate terrific headaches, the cause of which was unascertainable. I had employed all my so-called will power, had had the best medical and nursing care available, and though the strongest drugs were used to combat the effects of the above-mentioned evils, and to destroy the desire therefor, the false appetite increased rather than diminished.
Then it was that I was asked to try Christian Science. This I did, and four days after visiting a practitioner, and without knowing anything of this Science, I was completely healed. Since then there has not been the slightest desire for the use of either aspirin or whisky.
