GOD'S LAW OF DEMAND AND SUPPLY

From the September 1936 issue of The Christian Science Journal

In these days when so much interest centers on the solution of economic problems, it is no wonder that one finds oneself asking, Is it possible that effort to solve these problems has too long been turned in the wrong direction? Is it not apparent that mortals need spiritual enlightenment? Where may it be found? To whom shall we go?

Mary Baker Eddy, to whom the Christ, Truth, was revealed in our day, writes in the textbook of Christian Science, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (pp. 263, 264), "The fading forms of matter, the mortal body and material earth, are the fleeting concepts of the human mind." She also says: "Mortals must look beyond fading, finite forms, if they would gain the true sense of things. Where shall the gaze rest but in the unsearchable realm of Mind?"

From the Bible and the Christian Science textbook we learn that the real man and the real universe are spiritual, created by God. Since God, or Mind, is infinite and eternal, we conclude that Mind must eternally sustain its infinitely good creation. Man and the universe, ideas of Mind, coexisting with Mind or divine Principle at the point of infinite supply, are forever maintained by Love's indestructible law of infinite good. To demonstrate this law of good in one's personal experience one needs to spiritualize his thinking by turning from the contemplation of matter to the apprehension and understanding of spiritual reality—God and His ideas.
