One day a student of Christian Science was presented with a photograph of a certain stretch of land taken from high in the air. As she looked at what she had thought was a very familiar scene, she was impressed by the increased beauty and grandeur as well as the tranquillity revealed from this new and higher vantage point. In a burst of joy she exclaimed: "What a glorious view is the 'bird's eye' view! How broad is the outlook, free from the narrow limitations and imperfections which may have seemed so real from the lower level!" And then the view appeared to her as an illustration of what Christian Science is doing for its earnest students.
Does not Christian Science enable one to take always the higher view? By this is not meant that the student of this Science lives in a "dreamer's paradise." It means that by keeping his thought attuned to Truth, by knowing himself as what he is, namely, the reflection of the One "altogether lovely," he is bringing the health, happiness, harmony, and usefulness exemplified by Jesus into his daily experience. Knowing himself aright, he is loving toward all. He begins to enjoy the blessed awareness of eternal life, and so becomes a blessing to others. Jesus said, "This is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent."
As we look out upon the world and its affairs from the true point of view, we rejoice in God's goodness everywhere. In our daily walk as we meet our brothers and sisters, any irritation and friction disappears as we earnestly strive to know ourselves and our neighbors aright. And does not each smallest demonstration of the truth in individual experience exemplify the nothingness of all in harmony?
