I am increasingly grateful for Christian Science and for what it has done for me and is doing for all mankind. I have had many wonderful proofs of its efficacy and healing power when properly applied. I first became interested in Christian Science through the healing of pleurisy. I had been troubled with this ailment periodically before, and when through the aid of a practitioner I was completely healed in two days without any of the usual aftereffects, I was convinced that here was a religion worthy of investigation. With that conviction I began to study the Bible and the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy. I shall never cease to be grateful for that first healing and for the many subsequent proofs of God's power to heal mankind of all discordant conditions.
My wife has had many wonderful healings in Christian Science, and our two boys, aged nine and ten, have been beautifully protected from the many ills seemingly prevalent at certain times. On one occasion the symptoms of scarlet fever were manifested, and Science work was immediately taken up, with the result that a complete healing took place within two days. Three years ago the youngest boy was hit and run over by a toboggan loaded with five people and traveling at a great speed. These people were all Christian Scientists, and they immediately declared the truth, constantly knowing that God's love and protecting care are always available. The boy was carried to the top of the hill and placed in a car. Within half an hour the child's fright and our fear were replaced with confidence and assurance, and then as this boy talked and walked and demonstrated his freedom from any ill effects, we rejoiced and were all filled with gratitude for this seeming miracle.
In working out physical problems I have had great help from Mrs. Eddy's statement in the textbook (p. 14), "Become conscious for a single moment that Life and intelligence are purely spiritual,—neither in nor of matter,—and the body will then utter no complaints."
