To one having no religious traditions...

From the December 1938 issue of The Christian Science Journal

To one having no religious traditions or prejudices to overcome, the turning to Christian Science for healing may not mean radical changes and readjustments; but for me, as I had come from a family of doctors and preachers, and studied medicine with the aim of becoming a medical missionary, it was a complete surrender to call for aid from a Christian Science practitioner.

When sporadic attacks of asthma seemed to get a strangle hold, all the "opathies" and "rays" available were of no benefit. When, as a last resort, the true light of Truth and Love was lovingly brought to me, the healing came. Later the practitioner said, "I knew that you would be healed, and permanently." To the question, "Why?"came the answer, "Because you gave instant response to the treatment." Then I realized that the first long breath taken for many weeks had occurred as the treatment began.

Increasing gratitude to God, to our revered Leader, Mrs. Eddy, and to the practitioner was felt for the ability to go through the trials incident to the passing on of my mother, which occurred at this time.
