For over seventeen years, Christian Science has been my guide in solving financial, domestic, and physical problems. Through the realization and application of Truth, a position in a line of work for which I was equipped was given me at a time when it was necessary for me to put my shoulder to the wheel. Through this work, untold benefits befell both me and the members of my family.
Over two years ago I was a victim of nervous prostration, accompanied by extreme weakness, a walk around a small yard being almost impossible for me to accomplish For months this condition was not overcome, although the practitioner worked on the case with the greatest amount of gentleness and patience. On my part, there was much fear and a lurking doubt as to the ability of Christian Science to heal me. The practitioner was conscious of this doubt, but through her untiring efforts I was enabled to see that doubt is disloyalty to God, to Christ Jesus, to our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, and to Christian Science. When I finally awakened to the fact that "only through radical reliance on Truth can scientific healing power be realized" (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, p. 167), my healing came. Soon I was doing much of the housework and walking in the open about a mile each day.
In a testimony published in one of the Christian Science periodicals, I read a quotation from "Retrospection and Introspection" by Mrs. Eddy (p. 61), "If you fall asleep, actually conscious of the truth of Christian Science,—namely, that man's harmony is no more to be invaded than the rhythm of the universe,—you cannot awake in fear or suffering of any sort." I clung to this thought, and peaceful rest was experienced; normal sleep took the place of disturbed, uncomfortable nights.
