After proving the Principle of Christian Science for twenty-three years, I wish to express my gratitude to God and to our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, through the periodicals which she so lovingly provided for mankind.
My first healing was of headaches, which had been so severe that I usually had to stay in bed for several days at a time because of them. At the time of the experience mentioned, when I left my place of business to go home, I met a friend who knew how I suffered from these headaches. She recommended Christian Science, and I told her I would try anything. So she called a practitioner for me, and I went to bed. This was about one o'clock in the afternoon. At six I got up, dressed, went downstairs, and ate my dinner with the family, completely healed.
Soon after that I awakened one morning suffering from a swollen and painful throat. We thought that it might be diphtheria, for shortly before this time my mother had cared for another member of the family who had this disease. The family wanted to a call a doctor, saying that Christian Science was all right for some things, but not for that. I promised that if the case was not healed within a few hours I would let them call a doctor. A practitioner was called, help was given, and I was back at my work within twenty-four hours, as well as ever.
