Testimonies of Healing

[Original testimony in German]

With great gratitude I should like...

From the June 1938 issue of The Christian Science Journal

With great gratitude I should like to give an account of the blessings which have come to me through Christian Science.

From my earliest youth, stomach trouble had bothered me, becoming greatly aggravated from one attack to another and causing me a good deal of suffering. When I was twenty-one, this illness suddenly left me and I thought that I was finally free from it; but nine years later the suffering returned. After another two years I had gall-bladder trouble, as well. Often I had to endure seemingly unbearable pain, and I also suffered a great deal mentally. Suggestions of suicide often came to me, for my family was also very much troubled. I had used one medicine after another, and for two years without interruption had had medical help; but I could not get my healing.

One day I asked my doctor to send me to a hospital, as I was quite confident that I should get help there. But in this too I was mistaken; I came out just as I had gone in. In spite of the many doctors and the many medicines, relief did not come. Soon there was no food that I could stand. I became acquainted with a man who told me that God could help me through Christian Science; and he added, "I was in just such despair —worn out—and I was wonderfully helped."
