In gratitude to God for revealing to Mary Baker Eddy Christian Science, which heals sickness, sorrow, and sin, I lovingly give my testimony.
About ten years ago I was suffering from liver and kidney trouble and had been unable to retain my food for weeks. The doctor said that there was no hope, and the family was called. I had a dear friend who was a Christian Scientist, and I asked her to come over and bring a practitioner to tell me about Christian Science. This she did. The practitioner talked to me and told me about Christian Science, and I knew that it was just what I was looking for. After she left I tried to think of what she had said, but all I could remember was, "'Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need'" (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, p. 494). I felt happy and wanted to get out of bed, but the family would not let me. That night, to their surprise, I ate a large dinner. I was very happy, and the next morning I got up, dressed, and went downstairs without any help. I was completely freed and was able to walk unassisted.
Some years later, when I was sitting in a theater, I suddenly became dizzy. I told my young daughter to call her father, who came for me. When he arrived I got into the car, and that is all I remembered for some months. One day, after I awoke from this dream, I was lying on the couch reading a copy of the Christian Science Sentinel when I came to the statement from Science and Health (pp. 476, 477), "Jesus beheld in Science the perfect man, who appeared to him where sinning mortal man appears to mortals." When I read this truth I seemed to awake, and I said to myself: "What are you doing here? This is not being God's child," and I was healed.
