It is with a very great sense of gratitude and humility that I give this testimony of the healing power of Christian Science. Several years ago, when entering a car, I slipped and the starting of the car threw me backward, resulting in a badly injured foot. Both my foot and ankle swelled to a huge size, and my foot was drawn up so that it was between two and three inches from the floor. I had been a student of Christian Science for many years, and I knew that when rightly applied it was equal to every emergency. The mental picture of error was so real to me that I asked for help, which was lovingly given. My family requested me to have an X ray made, which I consented to do. The X ray showed a compound fracture of the ankle and the ligaments of the foot badly torn and twisted. The surgeon told my family that without a complicated surgical operation I should never again be able to walk properly. Upon hearing this mortal mind verdict I asked a member of my family to telephone to the Christian Science Sanatorium in Chestnut Hill, and to state the particulars of the case. The reply was that I could be admitted immediately.
With the courage of conviction that God's presence and power were with me, I was enabled to take the trip, by train, of several hundred miles, using a pair of crutches when it was necessary for me to take a step. I spent six weeks at the Sanatorium, where the spiritual atmosphere of love and kindness was a great help in the healing work, bringing me great peace and comfort. The ability to put my foot to the floor and take a step forward came to me one Sunday morning after I attended a service at the Sanatorium. I had gone into the assembly hall in a wheel chair and was able to walk out with the aid of a cane. The full and normal action of walking returned gradually. I can now walk, run, or climb a mountain as well as I ever did.
I have experienced many other healings in Christian Science, and no words can adequately express my gratitude for the revelation of this truth through our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy.
