Through Isaiah the prophet came the proclamation, "The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light." The spiritualizing influence of God's prophets, century after century, made it possible for one to appear who declared, "I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life."
Christ Jesus claimed no monopoly of light, since he said to those whom his teaching and healing ministry had illumined, "Ye are the light of the world." The truth he revealed transformed simple men into true witnesses able to destroy sin, disease, and death through their new understanding of righteousness, health, and life. In obeying their Master's instruction, the disciples became benefactors. This instruction and the duties it involves hold good for every Christian today, for the healing evidence of Spirit is an integral part of Christianity as Jesus founded it.
Christ, Truth, "the light of the world," is infinite, all-embracing. There is no cessation of its outpouring or of its reflection. But in order to show forth this light, we must drop the false concept of Deity and understand God, the sole source of light. "In thy light shall we see light."
