"Fear not," were the first angelic words to the startled shepherds, abiding in the Bethlehem fields, when the heavenly messenger heralded the coming of the Saviour. "And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men." The Gospel of Luke records this heavenly message of the Father's good will to all mankind. Such divine assurance is in accord with His love and tenderness.
As we are spiritually awakened to this truth, we understand more clearly how the teachings of Jesus demonstrate the Science of Love, which makes known that the divine will is ever operative to bless, to heal, and to save. The consciousness of God's presence enables us to realize the harmony of His good will, and of that which belongs to the realm of the real, wherein God and man are coexistent. Because of the certainty of our oneness with God, good, we should comprehend our spiritual blessedness and turn naturally to Him for comfort, health, and sustenance.
Could Love be anything less than loving? Is it any wonder that because of the misconception of the nature of God men should reach false conclusions? It is quite obvious, then, that it makes a vast difference in one's welfare whether one has the right or a mistaken concept of God. Mary Baker Eddy writes in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 380), "Nothing is more disheartening than to believe that there is a power opposite to God, or good, and that God endows this opposing power with strength to be used against Himself, against Life, health, harmony."
