"GREAT PEACE HAVE THEY WHICH LOVE THY LAW

From the February 1939 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Christian Scientists are rejoicing and praising God for the peace that fills their hearts. In an age of unrest and uncertainty, many are finding peace and security through the study and application of Christian Science. The Psalmist was speaking of humanity in all ages when he said, "Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them." The inspiration which results from meditation upon God's law, and the comprehension of His design of a harmonious universe, bring surcease of mortal pain and woe.

All humanity feels intensely the need of peace today. Individually we desire exemption from agitating passions and fears. We desire amicable personal and business relations. As a nation we feel the need of freedom from economic contention and political dissension. As citizens in a community of nations, we wish for freedom from international hostilities, for cessation of war, strife, and discord. We want a universal manifestation of brotherly love, understanding, and sympathy.

In past ages countless people have been able to demonstrate peace in their lives. The Bible records instances of the demonstration of peace under the most trying circumstances. In a similar manner today, great numbers are enjoying peace amid seeming confusion and depression. With the spread of the gospel of Christian Science many are realizing peace and tranquillity as present, universal facts. God heals every ill to which flesh seems to be heir, when, through understanding, the sunshine of His infinite goodness is allowed to flood human consciousness.
