Many years ago I was asked to purchase a copy of ''Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. The blessings which have come to me as the result of my compliance with that request have been beyond what mere words could express.
For some time, my interest in Christian Science consisted merely in attending services and lectures, and occasionally reading the literature. I did this more to please my wife than for what I might gain from it; however, I soon saw some things which made an impression, such as people being freed from sickness in a very short time without the aid of medicine or a physician.
I too was experiencing healings now and then, of colds, fever, and a dislocated bone in one of my hands; and some ten years or more ago a severe case of erysipelas was healed. The desire for smoking and liquor was taken away without any special work being done, and the belief of discomfort in high altitude was overcome by my realizing the truths in "the scientific statement of being," as found on page 468 of Science and Health. Bad traits of character, such as impatience, willfulness, and unkindness, have been largely overcome.
