Christian Science came into our family with its healing message more than half a century ago. We were living in the West, in a section of the country which was primitive, and where even the bare necessities of living were not abundant. Both my mother and father had been active in the Methodist church and were students of the Bible, but the healing power of the Word had escaped them.
Most known homeopathic remedies were in use in the family, owing to the scarcity of any medical aid because of the newness of that part of the country and the long and arduous trips that had to be made across the prairies. Consequently, both parents were trained in the knowledge of physical applications for conditions that arose in the family, then consisting of five young children.
At this time the healing power of Christian Science had extended to the West. One day an aunt arrived at our home with Mrs. Eddy's precious book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." She talked to my mother of the nature of God as divine Love, and said that she never need fear again to have full faith in God's healing power. She assured her that nothing was impossible, told her to trust God's care, and said that God would heal her children and keep them well.
