Rationing does not mean lack or a lowered standard of living to those who understand that infinite Mind is the source of all—the only source. Divine Mind is manifested in abundance eternally, and any deviation from the manifestation of the perfect allness of Mind is impossible.
God, Spirit, is the only cause and creator, and His infinite creation is fully maintained and sustained in infinite completeness. So unwaveringly certain of this was Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, that in the very first words of the Preface to the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," she gave to mankind a definite rule that has been proved applicable and practical by students of Christian Science. This rule is, "To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings." That which blesses must be altogether good, and infinite Spirit is good. It is inevitable that one perceiving this great truth will be naturally impelled to rely upon Spirit, and, so relying, be blessed.
Very early in the Scriptures is given an instance of rationing, with needs fully met, because trust was placed in God. The darkness of Egyptian bondage had been left behind, and inspired by Moses' steadfast trust in God, the Israelites went forward, often with hesitant pace through many difficult days, but in the right direction. This willingness to lean "on the sustaining infinite" blessed them, gave them guidance, protection, and sustenance, for the Lord said unto Moses, "Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or no." And each day for forty years the "children of Israel did eat manna."
