I wish to express my sincere gratitude for Christian Science and for all that it has meant to me in the last twenty-five years. It has proved to me the truth of the statement in Psalms, "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble."
My first healing was that of fear, and the mental outlook was so changed that it made possible the many other healings which followed. These healings were published in a testimony in the Christian Science Sentinel of March 3, 1934, so I will not repeat them here.
Some years ago I discovered that I was afflicted with a tapeworm. I was quite dismayed at first, for I remembered several cases of this sort before I knew of Christian Science which entailed long and severe struggles in their cure. But I quickly turned away from this evidence, since I knew I would have no other remedy but Christian Science and I had no doubt that I should be healed. I took up the study of all Mrs. Eddy's writings as well as the Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly. Mrs. Eddy tells us on page 451 of Science and Health that students of Christian Science must strive as well as seek. Now was the time to obey, to know more of Truth, not only for physical relief, but for more spiritual growth. During this time of three weeks there was no dieting, fasting, nor anything other than my normal way of living. I ate, slept, and worked as usual. Then one day these words came to my thought: "God's kingdom is composed of spiritual ideas. There is no other kingdom, so in reality there is no parasitic element." Two days later I was relieved of a large tapeworm. No remedy other than radical reliance on Christian Science had been used.
