Words alone can never convey an adequate sense of the gratitude I have for Christian Science. It has met my every need for many years, and is teaching me that my real need is, now and always, for spiritual understanding. The passing years have brought many tribulations, but Christian Science has proved itself a strong, unbroken staff upon which to lean. I am grateful beyond measure for the Bible, and for "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" and Mrs. Eddy's other writings. The study of these books has never failed to bring the inspiration needed to face any situation.
Since early childhood I have read and loved the Bible. When I used to ask my mother questions concerning the Scriptures which she could not answer, she replied, "That is not for us to know now, but we shall know hereafter." In Christian Science I am finding the "hereafter," where every question is answered with the truth of being, the truth about God, man, and the universe.
When I was about twelve years old, a physician told my mother that I was afflicted with an incurable disease from which several members of our family had passed on, and that I could not live to reach the age of sixteen. However, shortly after my sixteenth birthday Christian Science found me, and the course of my life was changed. One day, while I was visiting an older sister, I heard a faithful Christian Science practitioner give a simple, loving explanation of some of the basic truths of Christian Science. I had no thought of healing for myself, but as this tiny gleam of truth unfolded in my consciousness the disease disappeared.
