Be ye thankful, Christian host,
For heard above the raging storm
That would embrace the stricken earth
The voice of Love wakes true and warm.
Thankful be that joy and hope
And quiet haven wait for all
Who turn away from tents of woe
To hear and heed the Master's call.
Give ye thanks that gentle grace
In sweet abundance daily sheds
Its peace and benediction on
The holy feast that Spirit spreads.
Give ye thanks, 0 faithful ones,
For His eternal guiding light
That leads men from the snares that be—
From evil's overwhelming night.
Be ye thankful, Christian host,
That home and tender happiness
Shall spring and prosper as ye see
God's omnipresence can but bless.
