I began the study of Christian Science with the desire to learn of its nature and teaching. I shall never cease being grateful to God for this step.
The first healing I witnessed was of my son, who was healed of double pneumonia in about half an hour's time, when he was approximately two years of age. Our child was very ill, and I felt obliged to call a doctor, because other members of the family were very much opposed to what they thought Science was. When my husband and another member of the family had absented themselves, however, I called a practitioner with whom I was slightly acquainted, and told her of the child's illness. She had reflected so much love that I had a great desire to know her better and to find out more about this subject, which so greatly interested me. She immediately came over. I noticed that she did not appear the least alarmed about the child, but just sat down quietly and talked to me, while the child lay helpless in his carriage before us.
