Christian Science blessed me with healing shortly after I began to study it, and has continued to do so for twenty-five years.
When I was in my early twenties I was told by a physician who came regularly to the office in which I worked that I had a goiter. He said he had been watching it and it seemed to be growing rapidly. At first I was terrified, because I knew an operation of this nature left an ugly scar. Then my thought turned to the book I had recently begun to read. It was "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. This book was teaching me something about my real selfhood. It stated emphatically that disease is not real, and before this doctor had finished speaking I was thinking of myself as a Christian Scientist. I did not believe what he told me, and must have had an instantaneous healing, for the condition did not develop, and even the conversation went out of my thought for a long time. The reality of it must have left the doctor's thought also, for we had many talks about business matters after that, but the subject of goiter was never brought up again. I have since learned there is only one operation and this is the operation of divine Mind.
I continued to read Science and Health and I was healed of the tendency to have sick headaches. Then I was healed of quinsy. The throat was closed, but during this time there was no pain because I was so happy and expectant of healing, and soon I was entirely free.
