I Wish to express my gratitude for Christian Science and for the many blessings which have come to me through its study and application during the years that I have been a student of this beautiful religion.
I am especially grateful for the protection which I received some time ago in an accident. I was thrown from a fire engine under an automobile, and was pinned under the machine for about twenty minutes. During that time I was lying on the ground with my feet on the running board of another car, and the car that I was underneath was balanced on my legs, another car, and a streetcar loading island. It seemed that if any of the cars were to move even an inch, it would be impossible for me to escape serious injury.
As soon after the accident as possible, and while I was still pinned beneath the cars, I called a man over and asked him to telephone a friend and explain to her just what had taken place. The telephone number which I gave the man was that of a Christian Science practitioner, and after that message was sent all sense of fear and doubt left me. I knew that I was in God's hands. The man told the practitioner that he believed one or both of my legs to be broken, and that I was undoubtedly very badly hurt, and probably would be injured further before I was released. Needless to say, however, I was removed without serious injury, although it required a great deal of work and the use of two large jacks to release me.
