SYMMETRY

From the June 1944 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The symmetry of God is revealed to us in the teachings of divine Science setting forth the perfection of man in God's likeness.

He who desires to express symmetry will do so only as he understands that no quality of Mind is developed at the expense of another, but each unfolds in orderly perfection from the basis of infinity. One dictionary meaning of the word "symmetry" is "due or balanced proportions," and we know that proportion signifies that which is in relation to the whole.

Paul wrote to the Ephesians of the work inaugurated by Jesus and to be carried on in its divine unfoldment by his followers until its full symmetry was attained: "For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ."
