In a dearly loved article by our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, entitled "Voices of Spring," we find these heartening words (Miscellaneous Writings, p. 332): "Spring is here! and doors that closed on Christian Science in 'the long winter of our discontent,' are open flung. Its seedtime has come to enrich earth and enrobe man in righteousness; may its sober-suited autumn follow with hues of heaven, ripened sheaves, and harvest songs."
Our Leader speaks once in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" of her work as laborious, but elsewhere therein she says (p. 109): "For three years after my discovery, I sought the solution of this problem of Mind-healing, searched the Scriptures and read little else, kept aloof from society, and devoted time and energies to discovering a positive rule. The search," she continues, "was sweet, calm, and buoyant with hope, not selfish nor depressing." These words were written at a time when there seemed little welcome or sympathy for her message and no reward for her labors. How different it is now. The doors are indeed open flung, for we have reached the fulfillment of our Master's words, "The field is the world," and not only is the world our field, but it is a field asking for the sower's good seed.
Mrs. Eddy once said she could not carry on this movement alone, and in her writings she has said that the truest way to show our love for her is to help her. Her great influence is still at work through her revelation, carrying forward the establishing of her movement. We can aid in accomplishing this work and in establishing by demonstration the truth of her teachings for all mankind. Her great work goes on.
