During the ten years that I have been a student of Christian Science I have had many proofs that it heals and regenerates.
It was through the reading of a Christian Science lecture given to me by a friend and the chapter on Prayer in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy that I received my first healing—instant liberation from the appetite for alcoholic drink. With this healing came freedom from the unhappy physical as well as mental effects which were the result of years of bondage to the drinking habit. This was brought about by the explanation of the true nature of God and man as given in the Christian Science textbook. Shortly afterwards I received quick deliverance from the use of tobacco, a habit of over eighteen years' standing. I am grateful for the progress made in the healing of unlovely traits of character, of self-love, self-justification, and self-will.
