I wish to express my gratitude for...

From the October 1945 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I wish to express my gratitude for Christian Science, not only because of the healings I have received through its application, but because it is giving me a continually growing understanding of God and His ever-presence and power. Christian Science has met my every need since I began its study.

I did not receive the spiritual enlightenment necessary from the orthodox church of which I was a member, and when a friend recommended that I attend a Christian Science church with her, I was eager to do so. My interest in Science was awakened immediately, and I attended the church services regularly. Although I did not start studying earnestly until a few years later, from my very first attendance at a church service I felt a peace and awareness of the presence of God hitherto unknown to me.

Mrs. Eddy states on page 240 of Science and Health, "Remember that mankind must sooner or later, either by suffering or by Science, be convinced of the error that is to be overcome." In order that I might be healed of a nervous disorder, it was necessary that I earnestly take up the study of Christian Science. The healing was not instantaneous, but required much study of the Bible and our Leader's writings, which has proved a great blessing.
