Young people today are recognizing more and more the importance of attending the Christian Science Sunday School while they have the opportunity. Many are conscientiously putting into practice the truths which they have made their own through a faithful and consecrated attendance at Sunday school. No more should the question be asked, "Is Sunday school important?" because nothing is more important to the young man or woman than to have an understanding of God, and to know how to live harmoniously with his fellow men.
One Sunday school boy who was receiving his training in the Army Air Corps wrote to his teacher an account of the endurance which he was able to manifest through his understanding of Christian Science. He said: "After our ground school finals, we had our test in physical training and figured we had had a day. But after dinner, when we reported at the flight line, we were told we had a one-hundred-mile cross-country. So we had to get busy and plot our courses. Then the lieutenant came out and announced that I was to fly with the squadron commander. This particular cross-country was an instrument cross-country—one in which the pilot must go under the hood and fly by instrument only. He has to get to each port by compass and estimate the time of his arrival. Well, we started, and the captain ordered me to get under the hood and take off, and to report to him when we were at our first landing spot and at the right altitude. With the wind and all, it was an exacting assignment. But I knew that everything would work out right, and, believe it or not, I hit every town right on the spot. Good old Science!"
Since writing this letter to his teacher, the young man has written other letters telling of the protection he has had throughout many months of active service overseas. He has continually used the truths which became his as a pupil in the Christian Science Sunday School. He has had a fine record throughout his Army career, and has received a Presidential citation.
