In II Corinthians 5:17 we read, "If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."
Although I was reared in a Christian home, many Bible verses were not clear to me. When my mother passed on, a friend of mine lent me a copy of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, which I started to read. I was not looking for a physical healing, as I needed none, but was looking for comfort. While reading Mrs. Eddy's spiritual interpretation of the Lord's Prayer, found on page 16 of the textbook, I came to this passage: "Thy kingdom come. Thy kingdom is come; Thou art ever-present." A great sense of peace, joy, and comfort came into my consciousness; I knew then that God was ever present with me. I continued reading, sometimes far into the night, and started studying the Lesson-Sermons each day. This study was sweet and peaceful, and the teachings of the Bible were made plain to me. I attended the church services, bought Mrs. Eddy's writings, and later subscribed for the periodicals. Membership and activity in both a branch church and The Mother Church followed, and I am grateful for the spiritual growth that has resulted. I have had many healings, both physical and mental, including those of severe colds, sprains, corns, dislocated bones, and the lack of supply. I have also experienced protection.
This testimony would not be complete did I not say that I thank God each day for revealing the "pearl of great price," Christian Science, to Mrs. Eddy, who was pure and humble enough to receive this ever-available truth which explains God as Love. I want to express my gratitude for our Board of Directors, who are so faithful to the Cause, and to all the others who are a part of this great movement. I am deeply grateful for all the many blessings which I have received through the study and application of Christian Science.—Wollaston, Massachusetts.
