"Those who know no will but His take His hand, and from the night He leads to light" (Miscellaneous Writings by Mrs. Eddy, p. 347). This "light" to me was Christian Science.
I was in need of much physical healing when I first became interested in this Science, being on the verge of a nervous breakdown, the aftereffects of a severe attack of influenza. The doctor attending me at this time said that I would not be really well until the warm, sunny days came again. As it was then nearing the end of November, I seemed to be with "no hope, and without God in the world" (Eph. 2:12). Incidentally, this doctor shortly afterwards acknowledged what Christian Science had done for me, and told me to continue its study.
I was still in my late teens, and seemed to be deprived of participating in any kind of sport or youthful activity. Although I lived only five minutes away from a branch church, it cost me a great deal of time and effort to walk there.
