From the February 1946 issue of The Christian Science Journal

In Psalms 40:10 we read, "I have not hid thy righteousness within my heart; I have declared thy faithfulness and thy salvation: I have not concealed thy lovingkindness and thy truth from the great congregation." I have had many proofs of God's righteousness, faithfulness, and loving-kindness, and I am grateful to share a few of them.

When my work in a distant city terminated, there seemed to be no opening elsewhere. The thought of returning to my former place of residence was not attractive, because this did not appear to be a progressive step. Moreover, I had to overcome, through right thinking, false pride and hatred toward a former employer in the home territory. I came to realize in a degree the import of Mrs. Eddy's words (Science and Health, p. 74), "In Christian Science there is never a retrograde step, never a return to positions outgrown."

I soon received encouragement from a friend to return home, and while he promised no permanent employment he did propose that I accept temporary work which might lead to a permanent position. Suggestions of fear and uncertainty came, and I was even tempted by a last-minute offer, not in my prepared field of teaching, to go elsewhere. But I stood firm in the knowledge that God was leading and directing. One week after returning home I received an assignment of work which lasted for three months. When that work terminated, I received other employment from time to time, which adequately supplied my needs. Finally I was given a permanent position which has proved to be very satisfactory.
