"The Bible and the Christian Science textbook are our only preachers." (Explanatory Note, by Mary Baker Eddy, Christian Science Quarterly.) At these arresting words our hearts filled with gratitude. Here, thirteen thousand feet up in the majestic Himalayas, we were enjoying our Sunday service—just six of us.
What a beautiful church! We sat beside a mirror lake that bespoke the eternal stillness of Mind, forever unfolding its perfect ideas. Beyond, thinning mists gave way to grand new views, inspiring reminders of the boundless possibilities of man in God's image. Around lay the steadfast, curving ridge, symbolic of encircling Love. Glistening white pinnacles pointed to higher ideals of life, radiant and pure. From countless streams came a delicate diapason of heavenly tones, mellowing our glad-chorused hymn:
"I climb, with joy, the heights of Mind, . . .
And see Thee face to face."
