From the July 1946 issue of The Christian Science Journal

In Isaiah (35:6-8) we read: "For in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert. . . . The parched ground shall become a pool, and an highway shall be there, and a way, and it shall be called The way of holiness." Christian Science has been to me a rich pool of blessing, and in wilderness experiences "an highway, . . . and a way." The righteous prayers of two practitioners, together with my study and application of the Bible and the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, have changed the direction of my thinking and life toward the higher goal of God.

Words cannot express my gratitude to our beloved Leader, who has furnished mankind with the key to the kingdom, the reign of Truth and Love, exemplified by the master Christian. Christ Jesus. In its early days the church Mrs. Eddy founded was referred to in the "Report of the Clerk" at the Annual Meeting of 1906 (The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany, p. 47) as "this little church, God's word in the wilderness of dogma and creed." I am grateful for membership in The Mother Church and in one of its branches, and for all the love expressed by its members and friends. I am grateful for the lectures, for the literature, and for all the activities of this great movement.

Through the truth as taught in Christian Science I have experienced moral, physical, mental, and financial healing. A severe case of intestinal influenza was quickly healed in my early experience in Science. Belief in the necessity of laxatives was relinquished when I was able to glimpse somewhat of the purity, activity, and giving forth of Love. Another outstanding healing was that of streptococcal sore throat, which had advanced to such a stage that even clear liquid could not be swallowed. This error yielded slowly because I had lost all desire to live, but it was overcome through the earnest work of a practitioner.
