I had the privilege of being adopted and...

From the August 1946 issue of The Christian Science Journal

[Original testimony in French]

I had the privilege of being adopted and brought up by a mother who was a good Christian and who was devoted to me. In turn, I reciprocated in every way I could during her long illness. This good mother said these prophetic words to me one day: "You will never be alone, and you will be rewarded for all that you have done."

When she passed on, over fourteen years ago, I was forced to look for work. After three days I left the position I had taken, feeling that a spiritual impulsion was guiding me elsewhere. One week later, I found a new place in the family of a Christian Science practitioner, where I am to this day. Here I have had an opportunity to become acquainted with Christian Science. I was attracted to it because of the harmony which I found in this family, and by the demonstrations which I had an opportunity to witness. No one brought any pressure on me to turn to Christian Science, but my requests for explanations were complied with patiently and kindly. In the course of time I desired to attend the Science services, where the readings and the testimonies were equally illuminating to me.
