PETER'S DELIVERANCE AND OURS

From the August 1948 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Biblical incidents, viewed in the light which Christian Science throws upon the Scriptures, gain a new significance. The familiar account of Peter's deliverance from prison, for instance, as related in the twelfth chapter of Acts, becomes timely.

Because of his activity in spreading Christianity, Peter was cast into prison. As he lay sleeping between two soldiers, a light shone in the prison and an angel appeared, commanding Peter to "arise up quickly." As the apostle obeyed, the chains fell from his hands, and his liberation from the prison soon followed.

How often has the light of Truth, revealed in Christian Science, shone through the dark, imprisoning beliefs of mortal mind and brought deliverance to the sufferer! In some cases the spiritual, scientific truths have been so quickly realized that the bonds forged by fear, sin, or ignorance of God have been immediately loosened and instantaneous healing has taken place.
