Christian Science came into my life about twenty-six years ago. I had been brought up in one of the orthodox denominations and had tried to find comfort in it, but in vain. I read the Bible, prayed, went to church, but I was not satisfied.
A young friend suggested one day that I attend a Christian Science lecture which was to be given in the town that afternoon. I knew nothing of Christian Science; indeed, I had never heard the name. I went; and what a new world of thought was revealed to me! The same young friend then lent me a copy of the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. I read it and realized that I had at last found what I had been searching for.
My husband was a physician, one of the most prominent surgeons in the town, and I had a good deal of criticism to meet at first. Members of my old church refused to speak to me, but I was so happy in my new freedom that I did not feel hurt by their attitude.
